Looking for a fun and romantic weekend get-away? SLO Bake staff had a great weekend at Shell Beach for the last "Art in the Park" of the season. We stayed at the Best Western Shelter Cove Lodge and had an enjoyable time. The Shelter Cove Lodge offers large rooms, continental breakfast, and terrific ocean views. Read more

When I pulled up to the hotel I was not impressed. It looked dark and shabby, and I was ready to be disappointed. However, the room (while dark) was comfortable and well appointed with a fridge, microwave, and windows that actually opened (becoming less common). Additionally, the staff was friendly and helpful. As a bonus, there is a restaurant that shares the parking lot that opens at 6:30 am with hot breakfasts. This property is certainly not impressive but if traveling on a budget in the the D.C. you might consider this older property.

Reno is known for bargain hotels, cheap buffets, and lobbies that are full of slot machines. This property is certainly affordable ($38/night) and many rooms smell like smoke. However, this south-side property also has smoke free rooms, no slot machines, and it is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and a large grocery store. If you are looking for romance, stay somewhere else. If you are looking for a clean room in a nice neighborhood, and on a budget I would recommend staying here.

Fabulous property! Great view, great rooms, fantastic service, and a great location make this one of my favorite properties. I stayed on the top floor and really enjoyed the fresh air and view of a growing La Jolla.

When I drove up to the hotel I was clearly not prepared for such a clean property and such excellent customer service. This is officially my favorite HIE and gives me hope about the future of the chain. The property is new, clean, and quite attractive. The woman at the front desk was AMAZINGLY friendly.

Exceptionally clean property with predictably tidy suites that are comfortable, quiet, and in great shape. This newer property is located right next to Campbell Park. Bring your bike or walking shoes and enjoy the easy access to the park's bike and walking paths.

The TownePlace Suites are located in a nice part of town within a mile or so of Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and a great selection of upscale restaurants.

I was raised on Mexican food and have always been disappointed since leaving Bakersfield. La Mina Restaurant, with three locations serves the best crunchy tacos I've ever had. Eat at the restaurant and you will be greeted by Mr. Personality (Carlos) who will seat you at a colorful table where you are serenaded by two beautiful musicians.

Most importantly is the food. No need for salsa my friends because La Mina serves spicy (not hot) food with plenty of flavor. Check them out next time you are on your way to LA.

Attractive restaurant in Union Square district serves tasty Mediterranean food. Expect a clean, well decorated restaurant with impeccable service. The food was flavorful and the portions were just right. I would eat here again and again.

This hotel boasts it is the closest hotel to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) which, in my opinion, is the only selling feature of this poorly maintained property. Sloppy paint, dirty rooms, old carpet, and an elevator that gets stuck are good enough reasons to look elsewhere for accommodations.

This old, dirty, skanky, hotel is located on the parking lot of Food Land. Expect a dirty room, sunken bed, gross smelling hallway, and loads of teenagers hanging out by your car all night. This property accepts pets but do not stay here unless the Marriott Residence Inn is full.

This dog-friendly property is exceptionally clean and well staffed with a friendly, helpful staff. The suites are exactly what you expect from a Marriott Residence Inn including a clean kitchen, comfortable living room, plush bed with a variety of pillows, and a lovely vanity/bath.

If you are traveling with pets, this is the place to stay!

Residence Inn Sacramento at Capitol Park is a beautifully designed hotel with bright attractive rooms that overlook Capital Park in Sacramento. Located in the heart of Sacramento this dog friendly establishment provides visitors with the usual Marriott breakfast, manager's reception, newspapers in your room, and fantastic customer service. The manager (Tess) makes sure the staff is friendly, courteous, and well trained. Read more

The Hotel Metropole works hard to over come the small older rooms by providing guests with fragrant soaps and shampoos, and fluffy robes. After the longest check-in in years, I had to get to my room by walking down a corridor that was next to the loading dock for Vons. I was a bit worried about the loading dock and unfortunately my fears were well founded. At 12:45 a.m. a big-rig truck backed into the loading bay and naturally kept the engine running thirty minutes while they unloaded. I was not sure if I was kept awake by the loud big-rig or by the lumpy bed that was weary from thousands of sleepers (I can only imagine the amount of accumulated sand in the bed). Read more

This artful restaurant serves the best breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Arcata. Order one of the savory crepes and be surprised for an intense and surprising experience. Imagine a bacon, apple, and brie crepes with chili flakes or a crepe filled with onions and mashed potatoes. Yum!

Imagine living in a hotel for three months and having no complaints. Pacifica Suites in Santa Barbara is located on lush grounds of exotic plants and trees including avocado, banana, and even cork trees. The beautiful property is across the street from a citrus grove which smelled sweet and added to the tranquility of the hotel.

Each morning we walked to the breakfast room for our choice of bacon & eggs or cereal, yogurt, and croissants. The hotel has an automatic espresso machine that ground fresh beans for any type of specialty coffee drink that you can imagine. Read more

Scary, dirty, and the manager was unconcerned or just impotent in dealing with the strange men lurking about until all hours at night. After being sexually harassed by a knuckle dragger in the parking lot, decided to complain. Brian the manager seems to have no control over the facility or some of the guests which in my opinion were up to "no good".

For example, the outside door nearest the bike bath was not secure. So, the parking lot is full of creeps who have a clear path into the hotel with a quick escape up the path. Trust me ladies, you don't want to stay here!

You MUST STAY at the Hotel Avante when you are in silicon valley. Clean, VERY attractive, and an amazing staff. The entire hotel smelled fresh. The facility is just large enough to have a pool and lounge, yet small enough to be charming. I really felt like I was in Europe at this fine establishment. While in Silicon Valley - stay at the Avante!
